Frequently Asked Questions

How Do Upgrades Work?

Here at Ministry of Bits, we harken back to the days of lore when you could buy a piece of software once and not see your wallet drip out money every month. So with all of our products, you can buy them once for a set price and use that major version (e.g. 1.0.0) for as long as you desire, About once a year, we'll have a major new version with upgrading pricing of 50% off the cost of a new license.

We believe that if we do our job, we'll be able to deliver enough interesting and useful features, that you'll want to upgrade. And if not, that's fine too. Hopefully in a future major update we'll have something that you'll want to upgrade for.

Why is Sherpa's Price So Different Than the Competition?

Unlike most other shop management software that runs in the Cloud, Sherpa runs on your computer in your own shop. This substantially reduces costs as there are very few if any third-party costs that need to be passed down to customers.

If you're not familiar with how the Cloud works, in simplistic terms it's simply someone else's computer that they lease to you at an hourly rate. So all the other vendors with solutions in the Cloud, get tremendous bills each month from Amazon, Microsoft, Google or other Cloud providers, that they then need to pass on to you as the customer.
